Grow Your EMDR Skills in Community

Being an EMDR therapist means continually learning, adapting, and working through cases that don't always follow a predictable path. Sometimes you need another perspective, a place to talk through a challenging case, or an opportunity to step back and think more deeply about your clinical work.

The EMDR Consultation & Clinical Development Group offers a collaborative space to do just that. Through focused teaching, case consultation, and shared reflection, we'll explore the complexities of EMDR therapy, strengthen clinical decision-making, and learn from one another's experiences.

This isn't about having all the answers or getting everything right. It's about staying curious, asking questions, and building confidence in the work we do.

This Isn't a Sit-and-Listen Training.

Bring your real EMDR cases, questions, stuck points, and clinical dilemmas. Each meeting provides space for direct case consultation, clinical reasoning, and discussion with other EMDR clinicians.

You'll have opportunities to talk through treatment decisions, explore alternative perspectives, consider different approaches, and learn from fellow participants' experiences. The goal is to make consultation practical and relevant to the work you're actually doing.

What to Expect

Each two-hour virtual session combines focused teaching, collaborative case consultation, and time to reflect on what you've learned.

Focused Teaching | 30–35 minutes

We'll explore a relevant EMDR or trauma-treatment topic, with an emphasis on clinical application, thoughtful decision-making, and practical strategies you can bring into your work.

Case Consultation | Approximately 70 minutes

Bring cases that feel complex, challenging, or stuck. We'll discuss clinical questions, treatment planning, target sequencing, processing challenges, and other concerns relevant to the cases participants bring. All cases must be presented without identifying client information.

Integration and Reflection | 15–20 minutes

We'll close by reflecting on key takeaways, considering how the discussion applies to your clinical work, and identifying ideas to carry into practice.

Topics will evolve based on participants' interests, clinical questions, and learning needs rather than following a rigid curriculum.

For Clinicians Working Toward EMDR Certification

If you're working toward EMDRIA certification, this group offers a place to continue developing your EMDR skills while receiving consultation and feedback on your clinical work.

You can bring questions about case conceptualization, treatment planning, clinical decision-making, and the application of EMDR with clients whose presentations may be complex or challenging. You'll also have opportunities to learn from other clinicians' experiences and perspectives.

The group is designed to support both your professional development and your growing confidence in EMDR therapy.

For Consultants-in-Training (CITs)

The group also provides opportunities to practice consultation skills under the guidance of the lead consultant, giving CITs experience working with clinicians at different stages of EMDR development.

CITs can develop their ability to facilitate clinical discussion, ask meaningful consultation questions, offer feedback, and support other clinicians' learning. These opportunities are intended to complement the CIT's development while maintaining the lead consultant's oversight and guidance.

Topics to be Explored

Group teaching and case discussion may include:

  • Complex and developmental trauma

  • Dissociation, parts work, and attachment

  • EMDR case conceptualization and target sequencing

  • Stuck processing, resourcing, and stabilization

  • Integrating EMDR with IFS and somatic approaches

  • EMDR intensives and extended sessions

  • Shame, grief, moral injury, and religious trauma

  • Trauma experienced by first responders, military personnel, and veterans

  • Clinical decision-making, therapist self-doubt, and professional growth

  • Developing consultation skills and supporting other clinicians' learning

These topics are starting points, not a fixed schedule. We'll make room for the clinical questions and challenges participants bring to the group.

Who Is This Group For?

This group is designed for clinicians who have completed EMDR basic training and want to continue developing their skills through consultation, reflection, and shared learning.

You may be:

  • Working toward EMDRIA certification

  • An EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training (CIT) seeking opportunities to develop consultation skills

  • An EMDR-trained clinician looking for ongoing consultation and another perspective on clinical work

  • Interested in deepening your understanding of EMDR and its application to complex clinical presentations

Participants are expected to engage respectfully, contribute to a collaborative learning environment, and protect client confidentiality by presenting cases without identifying information.

A Collaborative, Down-to-Earth Approach

I believe some of our most meaningful professional growth happens when we can be honest about what we know, what we're still learning, and where we're feeling stuck. Consultation should give you room to think critically, ask questions, receive feedback, and consider new possibilities without feeling like you have to prove yourself.

My approach is collaborative and practical. I'll offer teaching, clinical perspectives, and thoughtful feedback while making space for the experience and knowledge each participant brings to the group.

We all have something to learn, and we all have something to contribute.
